"He gets very happy to see ye, Edward..." she said softly as she made no move to take the boy to his bed. He looked so sweet and to disturb her little cherub of a son just felt wrong. Eventually, she did get up to take him.

"I am always delighted to see him, so it is an equatable arrangement." Edward confirmed with a grin as he turned over the babe back to his mother. "But it does him good to sleep in his crib, at least, I believe so." They would eventually need him to be able to sleep alone after all.

She put him to bed and reappeared in the library, supper arriving while she was gone, she was happy seeing it since she had actually made some of it.

"Ah, Ruth, join me please." He motioned to the seat next to him at his little table. There was already a plate laid out for her the smell of the food mixing with the smell of books in a pleasant way, at least, Edward felt it was pleasant.

"I helped make the stew. I couldn't cut the ingredients but I did put everything in the pot and cook it meself. I hope ye like it." It was beef stew with thick cut potatoes, carrots, celery, onion, and, and she seasoned it with rosemary, sage, and thyme, garlic, and tomato, and even a little red wine. It did smell like it coomed well and she had made enough for the household.

"It smells good," he smiled at her as spooned some up and blew on it. "Tastes good as well," he confirmed after he'd eaten the spoonful. "Thank you, you didn't have to with your injury but I appreciate your care." He truly did, though he hoped to do a better job of caring for her in turn.

"I had help," she murmured and started to eat hers, dipping some bread into the gravy. She smiled at him, happy to see he ate without needing to be asked to npw. He had come a long way.

"I am sure you did, that doesn't change my gratitude." He smiled at her softly, reaching over to take her hand in his squeezing lightly. "You my dear, are a wonder."

"I wanted ta cook for ye because it felt right. Besides, the cook yer brother hired seems to be movin on and it was nice ta help the others out." She smiled and dipped more bread.
