Noah looked up with some gratitude, but then he shrugged. "If I can't walk for a week, I'll be no use to them."

Elijah shrugged. "I am sure they are more understanding and can find some use for you. It's only a week."

Noah looked down but stayed quiet. Mr. and Mrs. Meijer had been kind to him, but he knew better than to come to rely on it. Still, he hoped Crane was right.

Elijah looked nervous since Noah knew, but he patted his shoulder lightly. "I'm sure it'll work out. Let me know if you have trouble. I'll go look and ask around. If you remember anything, let me know."
